【アボリジニ】

1788年にヨーロッパ人が入植する前にも、オーストラリアには先住民族アボリジニが住んでいました。アボリジニは5〜6万年前にオーストラリアにやってきたともいわれ、ヨーロッパ人の入植当時は30万人のアボリジニが住んでいました。ノーザンテリトリーでは、その1/3がアボリジニの所有地として認められており、一部はアボリジニの聖地として保護されています。エアーズロックなどは代表的な彼等の聖地です。
また、アボリジニ独自の文化として、イダキという木管楽器が儀式に用いられます。この楽器が奏でる音は、ヒーリング（いやし）効果があると言われ、実際に病気の治療にも使われているそうです。イダキというのはアボリジニの言葉での呼び名で、その音色が「ディジュリドゥ」と聞こえることから、一般的にはディジュリドゥと呼ばれています。


【Aborigine】

Aborigine people were in Australia from the beginning. It is said that aborigine people came from other places to Australia 50 to 60 thousands years ago. There used to live about 300 thousands aborigine people when Europeans' immigration started. At present, 1/3 of the northern area is admitted for aborigine. A part of the area is as their holy places. Ayersrock is one of them. Do you know idaki? Idaki is a woodwind. Aborigine uses it at their ceremony. Idaki seems to have healing effect, actually they use it for treatment. Since the tone color of idaki sounds 'dhijudoh', it is often called as dhijudoh.
